Migrate to Lightspeed
Moving to a new platform also called migrating or re-platforming is an important step for your business. This step, although potentially stressful, marks the beginning of a new growth phase for your web shop.
Switching to Lightspeed is a crucial move for your business, and you now face a choice: do you take on this challenge yourself, or do you rely on experts? Despite the availability of standard tools, such a migration is fraught with complexity. From maintaining your SEO ranking, minimizing downtime to navigating the hidden risks.
In our five years of existence, we have successfully moved many stores to a new platform. Our main tip is to keep the process small and manageable, as the step is big enough. Want to know how we can guide you through this? Then make an appointment right away
Our process:
Listening: We start by listening, what are the wishes. What needs to be taken into account. What do the growth plans look like.
Plotting: Based on the intake, we create a visual overview of your configuration containing our proposal to further optimize it.
Schedule: After agreement, we will create a schedule that includes division of labor, expectations and dates.
Execute: Last but not least is the execution phase. For this we use the sprint model. Depending on the size of the assignment, this is a single or multiple sprints.
Build out: When the dust has settled from the migration, it is time to take the next steps. In this, too, we are happy to assist you.
Lightspeed | General
In 2015, Lightspeed launched the C-Series (was formerly SEOshop). The platform's great strength was and still is its excellent SEO results because of its speed and structure, as well as the many integrations it has to offer. Compared to Magento, for example, Lightspeed is a lot cheaper. You do not have to take care of the hosting and if there is an outage Lightspeed solves it.
Lightspeed | Design
There are countless templates you can choose for your Lightspeed webshop. Choose one that suits you and set it up. You can also choose a custom template. We are data-driven ourselves, but we work with reputable design partners who can create everything for you. We can connect you with a suitable partner. Would you prefer that we take care of this for you? No problem!
Can my web shop continue to run while performing the migration?
Of course, customers can still visit the current web shop. What you do need to pay attention to is that no changes may be made to the product data during the migration. So the advice is to implement new collections or price changes before the start of the project.
How long does a migration take?
This depends on the size of the data sets, such as the number of products. Once all preparatory work has been done, a webshop is migrated in a few days on average. During this period your old shop and/or cash register system will remain online. Only after all data has been transferred will we change the old system to the new system.
Will a migration affect my rankings within search engines (such as Google)?
When you change platforms, it always affects your search engine rankings. In the short term, often negative, because you remove, for example, many old products that did build up a certain ranking. See this as an investment, because in the long term the positive effect is much greater. Precisely because your shop is renewed (read: technically better) and cleaned up. If desired, we offer help with supervising SEO redirects. For comprehensive SEO advice, we advise our customers to contact such experts.
What happens to my customer data from the old shop?
To answer this properly, we split customer data into three parts: order history, customer data and customer accounts. It is not possible to transfer order history into the new shop. Customer data (contact information, e-mail, address, etc.) will be transferred into the new environment, however. Customer accounts contain secure data such as login and password, we cannot migrate this.
Can I control what you do or do not move?
Certainly, in the quote we look at all elements of the current web shop and you decide what we will include.
