Tuinplantenwinkel
Tuinplantenwinkel.nl, specializing in garden plants and trees, is one of our most recent projects. They faced a digital challenge, where their operational processes were still deeply rooted in traditional methods. For example, each plant was manually looked up in the till, without the use of barcodes, which led to a complex situation in inventory management and customer service. Our paths crossed at a time when Tuinplantenwinkel.nl was looking for a way to renew their business operations without losing their core values. It was a good match because of the shared commitment to innovation and growth.
Tuinplantenwinkel.nl: a unique player in the market
As a family-run business, Tuinplantenwinkel.nl has a passion for greenery, which is reflected in their unique range of perennials, shrubs, climbers, fruit trees, and espaliers. Their range is limited to essential planting supplies, allowing them to focus their attention fully on delivering top quality and excellent service.
The journey of Garden Plant Shop in recent years
Over the years, Tuinplantenwinkel.nl has continuously adapted to the changing market and climate challenges. One of these challenges was dealing with periods of drought. In addition, the company ran into a number of problems. For example, long queues often developed in the store because there were inconsistencies in employee handling of products. There were also sometimes differences in prices between the online and physical store. With the ambition to improve efficiency through digitization, gardenplantstore.nl ran into some limitations. Lightspeed Retail, although a step in the right direction, did not offer the customized solution required by the store's unique concept. The sticker system, for example, did not meet the requirements, as paper labels are not resistant to water and one cannot put the necessary specifications on them such as flowering period and location (Sun, semi-sun, shade) .
So they came to us for help. They needed a customized system. We helped them with a number of things. We made sure to replace their old POS system, which didn't work well with their online store. We also created a special database for all products, because the old system made a lot of mistakes, especially with prices and invoices for B2B customers. Finally, we developed a new type of label that was water-resistant and thus ideal for plants.
Duxly's project at Tuinplantenwinkel.nl
The collaboration with Duxly focused on digitizing the content and order management of Tuinplantenwinkel.nl, an important step towards more efficient operations. By tackling the project in sprints using the scrum method, we were able to build and implement improvements step by step. Custom applications were developed for both the label printer and warehouse management systems, tailored to the specific needs of Tuinplantenwinkel.nl. These applications support various locations for both B2B and B2C transactions and are specifically designed for the different types of plants sold.
Collaboration with Duxly
The collaboration between Tuinplantenwinkel.nl and Duxly focused on continuous improvement and adaptation. Marc and Dennis of Tuinplantenwinkel share their experience:
"We have addressed our biggest problem and now look forward to the peak season to test the effects of the solutions and encounter new challenges again. After the season, we are planning a new phase of digitization."
This emphasizes the cyclical approach to improvement, optimizing processes in the off-season and addressing new issues during the peak season. A noticeable difference can already be seen in the efficiency of the checkout: where previously two cashiers were needed to handle the crowds, now one is sufficient, who also has more time for personal interaction with customers.
