Tuf-Tuf
At Duxly, we pride ourselves on helping our clients solve complex technical challenges so they can focus on what really matters: their business. In December of 2021, we had the pleasure of helping Tuf-Tuf, a web shop specializing in party supplies, move to a new e-commerce platform and sync their web shops. In this article, we are happy to share how we were able to help Tuf-Tuf and save employees a lot of time.
Tuf-Tuf is not averse to a party
Tuf-Tuf has 15 years of experience delivering party supplies and treats throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. With a wide range of party supplies, Tuf-Tuf not only provides unforgettable children's parties, but also enjoys helping customers celebrate other types of celebrations. The company was acquired in 2020 by the current owner: Jordy Jas.
Jordy was already at home in the world of parties with his company Balloonzone, a company specializing in creating balloon decorations. Out of the need to create a more stable business, Jordy acquired Tuf-Tuf. With the acquisition, he also immediately had a good foundation for e-commerce. The corona pandemic gave Tuf-Tuf a huge boost. The company went from 20 to 30 orders per day to 200 to 220 orders per day. Jordy says it also took some shifting to grow from a small number of employees to 27 employees. Today, Tuf-Tuf has 14 employees and sales have declined somewhat.
The course of events before Duxly was called in
Tuf-Tuf's website, when Jordy took over the company, was a WordPress website and it was in need of replacement. Jordy already had the some experience with the e-commerce platform Lightspeed and decided to move Tuf-Tuf to it. Especially the user-friendliness of the platform and the possibility to easily expand to webshops for other European countries in the future were decisive. For Jordy, one of the biggest pain points in maintaining the WordPress website was that he had to hire programmers to do this, as no one at Tuf-Tuf had the knowledge or expertise for this. Jordy indicated that it is often a lot of hassle to work with programmers. They are often difficult to reach and communication is difficult. As an entrepreneur, you want the problems of your webshop to be solved immediately and not tomorrow or the day after, especially if the webshop is the core of your business. We understand this at Duxly.
Tuf-Tuf considerations
Through Lightspeed, Jordy ended up at Duxly. He considered going with another party, but ultimately chose Duxly. Jordy says the contact was relaxed and nice and normal. According to Jordy, it also helped that we are located in Amsterdam and Tuf-Tuf in Zaandam, so you can get to each other's offices faster. Jordy came to Duxly with two assignments: help Tuf-Tuf move from WordPress to Lightspeed and provide a link between the Dutch and foreign shops. Well of course we were happy to help Tuf-Tuf with that! The contact before we started the cooperation also went well according to Jordy, although there were sometimes some ambiguities. Clearer language and good agreements about who was going to do what would have been desirable at this stage. A data migration is also a difficult process, especially if you are not familiar with it. As an entrepreneur you just want to move from platform A to platform B. A little more guidance and explanation during this process would be desirable according to Jordy. And we understand that, noted Jordy! "Fortunately it all worked out well and Duxly was always easy to reach."
What it yielded
The data migration had to be made as easy as possible, and at Tuf-Tuf they were not keen on having to retype the 10,000 products and all the associated product information themselves. Understandable, because that not only takes a lot of time, but it is also error-prone. According to Tuf-Tuf, Duxly's support not only greatly reduced the hassle of moving to Lightspeed, but also saved the company a lot of time. Because of the link between the Dutch and foreign webshops, Tuf-Tuf employees no longer have to manually adjust all items in all webshops. This saves the employees of Tuf-Tuf and Jordy extra work and saves them a lot of time!
According to Jordy, bringing in Duxly has also saved costs. Entering all items manually is a task that takes a lot of time, and yes, if it takes a lot of time then it also costs a lot of money. Jordy indicates that Duxly has also indirectly caused a growth in sales. Linking the web shops made it easier for Tuf-Tuf to go abroad, which Jordy says increased sales.
The collaboration / Is it a match?
And then one of the most important questions we ask our clients: would you recommend Duxly to other business owners? Jordy say definitely recommend us. He is very pleased with the ease of switching to Lightspeed and the link between the web shops. There were a few minor glitches during the process, but Jordy says that's logical when so much data is involved. "As long as it was solved quickly and right away, and fortunately that happened. Things were handled quickly and the contact is still good. I can app you guys if something goes wrong, I get a response almost immediately and it's solved." And what if Duxly were suddenly not there tomorrow, what impact would that have on Tuf-Tuf? According to Jordy, that's going to cost him an enormous amount of time and it really wouldn't be nice.
Future
Tuf-Tuf has big ambitions. The company will hopefully expand further into other European countries. Which countries these are they do not yet know exactly. In any case, we are ready for Jordy and Tuf-Tuf when a new webshop needs to be linked up!
At Duxly, we believe in partnership and making the complicated understandable. Our customers experience this every day in our personal approach and pragmatic solutions. Take for example our partnership with Jordy from Tuf-Tuf. By looking at the problem from his perspective and thinking with him, we were able to provide a stable solution that put him back in control of his store. Curious about our approach and what we can do for you? Feel free to contact us and find out how we can grow together.
