Schmidt Optics
Schmidt Optics is a renowned optician with years of experience in the business. The company is known for its beautiful products and excellent service. Schmidt Optics offers a wide range of eyewear and other optical products from top brands selected for quality and style. Because of their expertise and customer focus, they know exactly which products best suit their customers' individual needs. Schmidt Optiek, founded in 1866, is the oldest optician in the Netherlands and the family business currently has no less than four branches with around 50 employees spread across the country. The company's first branch still sits in the heart of Amsterdam on the corner of Rokin and Wijde Kapelsteeg. The storefront is largely still in its original condition and is among the 200 new national monuments. Jim de Vos, marketing and branding manager at Schmidt Optiek, is responsible for the collaboration with Duxly.
The course of events before Duxly was called in
Schmidt Optiek's e-commerce was already running smoothly before Duxly was engaged. One of the solutions we developed for the company made the web shop more efficient to maintain. Schmidt Optiek was suffering from many fake orders through the website and it was a time-consuming job to manually remove all these orders. Of course, we are big fans of efficiency and time saving, so Duxly developed a filter for this. Now the employees of Schmidt Optiek no longer have to manually remove the orders and that saves quite a bit of time.
Good communication
Schmidt Optiek came in contact with Duxly through Lightspeed. Jim was anxious to get something settled quickly and asked Lightspeed if they could think with him, the company then indicated that Jim could check with one of their partners. From here it went pretty fast. Jim immediately got in touch with Dirk, who is still his regular contact at Duxly. Communication is still going super well according to Jim, he says he can always call Dirk if he runs into a problem that Duxly can help with.
But Duxly was not the only company Schmidt Optics contacted for a solution. At the other party, Jim got right into a very corporate chat. The costs were pretty much the same at both companies, Jim says, but Dirk could just call up "Hey buddy, how are you, come over because I have a new idea" and get the answer "Yeah nice!". That's a lot more relaxed working together than in a corporate way according to Jim. The personal contact with Dirk was the decisive reason for Jim and Schmidt Optiek to choose Duxly.
The contact before the contract was signed also went smoothly, which, according to Jim, was another reason to put his signature on the contract sooner. Jim also had contact with Théo and it was a clear and transparent story: "You indicated very clearly how long you would be working on it and what the costs would be. The communication during the process was also very good, for example by indicating which phase you were in. And when something went wrong, it was solved immediately. That always makes me very happy."
The collaboration
Engaging Duxly has 100% saved time and increased productivity, according to Jim. Customers have also been given more choices with some brands, something Jim also likes. Schmidt Optiek also now no longer has to manually cancel orders and update inventory back in the web shop; that's all automated now. With this time saved, Schmidt Optiek can again focus on growth. All in all, according to Jim, it has also increased sales.
Jim also didn't feel pushed to deploy any more of our solutions. Schmidt Optiek came to Duxly purely for these services and the company was looking for a party they could grow with. The contact with Dirk is still going well according to Jim. "I went for coffee with Dirk again the other day and expressed some frustration with our current theme and he immediately came up with a suggestion to adjust some things and migrate to another theme. The funny thing was that I hadn't even realized you guys could help me with that."
So Jim would definitely recommend Duxly to other business owners. "If other projects are delivered with the same speed, transparency and quality, I would say why not?" If Duxly were no longer around tomorrow, Jim would not only have to take the automated work elsewhere again, but he would be very sorry.
Future
In the near future, Duxly will get back to work on a new project for Schmidt Optiek. Schmidt Optiek is very online oriented in terms of marketing and advertising, in addition, the webshop is also running well, according to Jim. Duxly is confident that Schmidt Optiek will continue to grow, something the company itself would like to see. Personally, Jim would love it if Schmidt Optiek could open a new store every year. If the company can do that for 5 to 10 years then Schmidt Optics will have a very dominant presence in the market, something Jim would like very much.
